History of ILLC
The School of Languages, Literacies and Translation is proud to continue its legacy with the 10th edition of the International Language Learning Conference (ILLC). Since its inception in 2004, ILLC has grown into a highly anticipated biennial event, attracting hundreds of participants from across the globe. Over the past two decades, the conference has become a premier platform for language professionals, educators, researchers, and enthusiasts, fostering valuable knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration. One of the key achievements of ILLC is the opportunity it provides for participants to have their research findings published in Scopus-indexed journals after the peer-review process. This has enabled numerous researchers to enhance the visibility and impact of their work on an international scale. ILLC has established itself as a hub for innovation and dialogue, driving the advancement of language learning, teaching, and research. It continues to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the language industry, addressing both current and emerging needs. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to expanding our reach and bringing the world together through the power of language. We look forward to hosting many more successful conferences in the years to come.
ILLC Theme
One of the standout features of the International Language Learning Conference (ILLC) is its thoughtfully selected theme, which reflects the evolving landscape of global language development. Held biennially, this event addresses evolving trends in language, education, and communication. Each edition is built around a timely theme, ensuring meaningful discourse and impact. This year’s theme, ‘Celebrating Diversity through Language: Building Inclusivity for a Sustainable Tomorrow’, highlights the role of language in fostering inclusivity and sustainability. This theme also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on quality education, SDG 10 on reducing inequalities, SDG 16 on peace and justice, and SDG 17 on partnerships for the goals. We encourage all participants to contribute thoughtfully and respectfully to impactful discussions, ensuring that the topics and ideas presented uphold the values of inclusivity and mutual respect. Together, let us use the power of language to shape a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and enriched by diversity.
